not so good

Well, yesterday was interesting. We had the first rocket attacks on base since I've been here. 3 70mm rockets were launched, 2 exploded, 1 death, 1 injury. You can definitely tell the difference between the incoming and outgoing! Not near where I was thankfully. Also, a nurse that was working with a Christian Aid group in Kabul was gunned down in the streets. The special ops guys did rescue an army corps of engineer employee who was kidnapped in August. attached are some pictures, one shows the mountains in the background with snow, the other is an afghani village right outside the fence. They still use sunbaked bricks, held together with camel dung, like they have for centuries. Makes you really appreciate mortar, especially when wet. Anyone that complains about stinky amarillo air should try living in a poop house!
