Fallen Comrades

Luke has witnessed many fallen comrade ceremonies since he has been in Afghanistan. They have one whenever a soldier dies and they fly the body back home through Bagram Air Field.

Earlier in the week there was a ceremony for 2 women that were killed when their humvee hit a bomb on the road between Bagram and Camp Eggers in Kabul. Luke made that trip twice earlier in the year. He remembers meeting one of the women while he was there.

From Luke today: "We had another fallen comrade ceremony today. Three people were killed when a car bomb drove into a convoy on the road between here and Kabul. That's 5 people in a week that have died on that road."

It makes me very nervous to hear about this. I pray Luke will not have to go off the base any more. However, he says that after July 20, the command of his group will change and he will probably be sent different places. Please join with me in praying that he will continue to be needed on the base and will not have to leave.

And of course we need to be praying for all the families who have lost loved ones in Afghanistan and Iraq.
